Carragher will move into the top ten 'most faithful players' of all time next summer if he signs the proposed new contract at Liverpool - the defender currently sits in 17th place worldwide after 16 years with the Reds.
The veteran defender has pledged to play on for as long as he can, as he believes the current breed of young players at Liverpool have huge roles to play in the club's future and he wants to help in their development.
Talks are said to be underway over a potential new contract for the 24-year-old and, according to a club source, that will include a role on the Anfield coaching staff.
Reds officials are understood to want Carragher to be 'part of the club for a long time to come' and the player himself, who's son currently plays for the club's junior set-up, is keen to stay on.
